Digital Animation/ Projection on Silk Screen
Unbound is an installation that merges the ephemerality of animation with the tactile presence of silkscreen, serving as a prototype for my MFA thesis show, Echoes of a Mockingbird. The lone bird in the animation embodies a rural woman who defies societal norms: soaring beyond cultural limitations to claim her freedom and voice, becoming the heroine of her own story. This work bridges Bengali folklore and reality by flipping narratives around rural women in Bangladesh, transforming stories of repression into visual expressions of strength and autonomy. Through the animation, the bird evolves from being grounded and restricted to soaring in flight, its spreading wings symbolizing the transformative power of self-reclamation and liberation. The bird, a recurring motif throughout all of my works, serves as a metaphor for marginalized voices and personal transformation.
